High speed chase ends in drug charges for 2 men

On Behalf of | May 8, 2021 | Drug Charges

Two men were recently arrested following what police described as a highspeed chase. Authorities have since filed drug charges against both men. The driver of the vehicle is also facing additional charges.

A highspeed chase

According to Maryland police, the incident first started when a 24-year-old man ran a stop sign. When police tried to initiate a traffic stop, he reportedly refused to stop. The chase reached speeds upwards of 70 mph and involved running through red traffic lights and passing vehicles despite there being a double yellow line. The driver ultimately lost control shortly after hitting stop sticks that police had placed on the road.

Inside the vehicle

Police claim that the driver and his 25-year-old passenger did not immediately exit the vehicle despite numerous commands to do so. When they eventually did get out of the car they were both arrested. The pair also admitted to police that they had unrelated felony warrants out for their arrests. Police then conducted a search of the vehicle and say that they found the following:

  • Methamphetamine
  • K2
  • A glass pipe
  • Two scales
  • Plastic bags

Drug charges are a serious matter in Maryland. Anyone convicted of such a crime could face extensive jail time and hefty fines, not to mention the possible impact on his or her personal life. Many people miss out on valuable employment or educational opportunities. To minimize such consequences, Maryland defendants are often welladvised to take an early, proactive approach to defense planning.
