Social media has changed the world in numerous ways, and many of those changes are welcome. However, it also seems to have encouraged some people to take dangerous risks in the hopes of achieving online fame. In other cases, it may also help police determine what occurred in the commission of a crime. Police say that one driver in Maryland recently uploaded a video to TikTok that allegedly shows a man drunk driving, and he is now facing multiple charges after crashing his car.

Officials claim that the video in question shows a male driver traveling on Interstate 83. The footage appears to show his car veering off the road and driving between the posts of a highway exit sign. The car then goes airborne, landing in a ditch and the video ends shortly thereafter. It has more than 30 million views on TikTok and has spread to other social media platforms.

Police who responded to the scene say that no one was injured and that the driver would not accept any medical treatment. They decided to charge him with driving under the influence, though they have not disclosed how they determined his level of intoxication. He has also been charged with certain traffic violations. Officers say that this video should serve as a warning to other people regarding the dangers of drinking and driving and they hope it will not encourage others to engage in similar behavior.

This driver could be facing very serious punishment for the crimes he stands accused of committing. Drunk driving is taken very seriously by the court system and can result in fines, jail time and other punishment. A convicted person could even have difficulty resuming normal life once his or her sentence has been served, as a DUI can make it hard to obtain employment. Those facing these types of charges here in Maryland may want to work with a dedicated criminal defense attorney who will fight to ensure they are treated fairly by the law.
