Many people think that drug charges only have to do with people who are selling the drugs. This is only one of the possible charges that a person can face in relation to drugs. It is imperative for all people who are facing any types of drug charges understand what the charges entail.

Drug dealing charges are serious criminal matters that can result in time in prison. Even on a federal level, these charges are serious. Dealing marijuana in an amount of less than 50 grams can lead to up to five years in prison.

Even more serious than drug dealing charges is a drug trafficking charge. This charge usually has even more prison time associated with it than dealing charges. Typically, trafficking charges are associated with larger amounts of drugs than dealing.

Drug paraphernalia charges are another possible charge. You might be shocked to learn that this charge is possible even if you don’t have any actual drugs on you. You only have to have items that are used for the manufacture, use or sale of drugs on your person.

Charges for manufacturing and distributing are another possibility. These have to do with growing plants that are used for drugs or making the drugs, such as manufacturing methamphetamine. These charges also come with some serious penalties.

Ultimately, you need to think carefully about each of the decisions that you are presented with regarding your case. Coming up with your defense strategy is one of the best ways that you can tell your side of the story and work to minimize your penalties.
