Stay on track with your probation or face the consequences

On Behalf of | Aug 4, 2016 | Parole & Probation

When you are on probation, you have very specific guidelines that you have to follow. Even if you don’t think that these rules are necessary, you still have to follow them. They can include a host of measures that include staying out of legal trouble, remaining drug free and meeting with your probation officer. If you fail to do any of these, you might end up facing new criminal charges.

If you recall, when you were placed on probation, you received a suspended sentence from the court. That suspended sentence means that you can still have to complete that sentence if you don’t follow the rules of probation. If you do successfully complete probation, you won’t have to complete the suspended sentence.

We know that you probably will try your best to abide by the conditions of your parole. If you find yourself facing probation violation charges, you will need to get your defense together quickly. In this case, you will face a bench trial instead of a jury trial. That means that the case will be heard by a judge instead of a jury.

Thinking about the possibility of going to prison because of a slip up on your conditions of probation isn’t pleasant. At the Law Offices of Elling & Elling, our attorneys are here to help you wage the war against the probation violation charge that might end up sending you to prison. You don’t have to try to go up against the prosecutors by yourself when we are here to build and present your case for you.
